History

In 2007, NewSong Fellowship Church in Lancaster, PA (now known as Harvest Bible Chapel, Lancaster) had it on their hearts to plant a church with its same doctrine and core values in Southern Lancaster County. After prayer and research, Quarryville seemed like the natural place to go as it was a central location for those who live south of Willow Street. Pastor Nate Newell was hired to lead this new church, and services began in June of 2008. By June of 2009, Oak Hill was able to become a fully autonomous local church, while still participating with our sending church in many ways. In December of 2009, we began meeting at our current location, 15 E. State Street.

As the Lord worked over the next few years, a solid core was equipped to "do the work of the ministry," speaking the truth of the gospel into one another's lives. New "Small Groups" (now called "Gospel Communities") were born, new people came to faith, believers were built up in the word, and new leaders were equipped and given responsibility.

In late 2013, after five and a half years as a church, the Newells began to sense the Lord working to lead them to Malaysia to lead an international church through Harvest Bible Fellowship. Seeking the Lord for how He might desire Oak Hill to move forward, the church voted in June 2014 to install the current worship leader, Ben Miller, as the new Pastor-Teacher. Along with a total of four other elders at the time, God richly provided the leadership needed as Oak Hill gave blessing to the new calling on the life of their founding pastor and his family.

In 2018, Oak Hill joined the Great Commission Collective for the purpose of church planting, purposeful relationships, training and accountability. This is the same church planting network to which both our sending church and founding pastor's church belongs and we look forward to how God will use this partnership to continue building his church.

We remain committed to help people in the Solanco and beyond see the glory of Jesus and be transformed by him as his disciples. We believe that God wants to work through his church to display his incredible wisdom, and he desires to see the gospel proclaimed, believers established in the faith, leaders raised up, and new churches planted. We are excited for how God will continue to do this in the years to come in and through Oak Hill!
