2018-2019 Vision:

To confidently pursue eternal joy through the work of God in Jesus Christ.

We all hope IN something.
And we all hope FOR something.

So what is the source of YOUR hope (what do you hope in)?
And what is the object of YOUR hope (what do you hope for)?

Sometimes we walk around with dead hope, relying on things that cannot provide the eternal joy, peace and relationship for which we were created. We hope with a sense of "wishful thinking" or even "entitlement" or "the power of positive thinking."

In 1 Pet. 1:3-5, we come to learn that the source of Living Hope is the merciful work of God through Jesus Christ. That hope is a confident expectation of eternal joy in God's presence based on the merciful promise and plan of God. We want to confidently pursue that eternal joy as a church so that the world can stand in awe of Jesus, who is the reason for the hope in us. Here are some ways we want to grow together in our hope:

Vision Goals:

  1. Hope IN... the merciful work of God through Jesus (see 1 Pet. 1:3-5): We are going to finish our sermon series in the Gospel of Luke called Follow Closely, looking at the last week of Jesus' ministry, his death and resurrection, which Peter says provides our "Living Hope."
  2. Hope FOR... the glory of God in your trials (see 1 Pet. 1:3, 6-8): We will point one another to Jesus through the various trials of life, especially in our Gospel Communities. On Sunday mornings, we will sing songs that help us rejoice in Jesus no matter our life circumstances.
  3. Hope FOR... the holiness of God in your walk (see 1 Pet. 1:13-16): We will help disciples walk with Jesus, not following the world through our First Principles series during our 11am discipleship hour.
  4. Hope FOR... the love of God in your church (see 1 Pet. 1:20-23): We will seek to speak the truth in love, ministering the word to one another on Sunday mornings and in Gospel Communities.
  5. Hope FOR... the pattern of God in your family (see 1 Pet. 3:1-8, esp. v. 5): We will promote God's patterns for healthy families through intergenerational investment in our Gospel Communities, through the First Principles Study Series, and through our NextGen Discipleship Hour for Kids and Teens. Our Senior High Youth will be studying the biblical foundations of gender and roles.
  6. Hope FOR... the boldness of God in your witness (see 1 Pet. 3:13-17): We will pray for our unbelieving, unchurched and unconnected friends in our Gospel Communities, and also seek to reach our community through opportunities like the Solanco Fair Parade.
